Editorial Policies
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences is dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing and strictly adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences is committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout the editorial and peer-review process, and to safeguarding the reliability of the scholarly record.
Submission of a manuscript to Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences implies that all authors have read and agreed to its content, that the work is submitted in good faith, and that the manuscript conforms to the journal’s policies and ethical requirements.
Advertisements
The journal does not accept advertisements.
Affiliations
All authors and coauthors must list all relevant affiliations to indicate where their scholarly work, research, and study were approved, supported, and/or conducted.
If the author(s) and coauthors move to a different institution before publication, they must state the affiliation where the work was performed and also provide their current affiliation.
If the author(s) and coauthors have no relevant institutional affiliation, they should indicate their independent status.
Appeals and Complaints
Appeals
Authors may appeal editorial decisions if they believe the decision was based on a misunderstanding of the manuscript’s content, a procedural error, or a factual issue related to the review process. Appeals must be submitted in writing and should clearly explain the grounds for the appeal, supported by relevant evidence.
Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated senior editor who was not directly involved in the original decision, where possible. The decision following an appeal is final.
Complaints
Complaints may relate to editorial conduct, peer review, publication ethics, authorship, or concerns raised post-publication. All complaints are handled seriously and investigated in a fair and confidential manner. The Editor-in-Chief will request information from all relevant parties and determine an appropriate course of action in accordance with COPE guidance.
If the Editor-in-Chief is the subject of the complaint, the matter will be handled by the most senior member of the Editorial Board, following COPE guidance.
First Point of Contact
All appeals and complaints should be submitted to the journal’s Editorial Office in writing, using the official contact details provided on the journal website. Submissions should include sufficient detail to allow the issue to be assessed efficiently. Where necessary, the editorial process may be paused while the matter is under review. Authors and other stakeholders will be informed of outcomes once a decision has been reached.
Acknowledgement
Acknowledgements should be made to individuals who contributed to the manuscript but are not included in the author list, as well as to organizations that provided support, funding, and/or other resources.
Authorship
Authorship on an article is a significant acknowledgment, intended to credit individuals who have substantially contributed to the work. Transparency and accountability are essential to safeguard the integrity of the content.
All authors listed on the article must agree to any changes to authorship, both before and after publication. This includes adding or removing authors. The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining confirmation from all coauthors and providing a rationale for the change(s).
If authorship changes are made after the article’s publication, a formal notification will be issued to announce the amendment. Any such changes must adhere to the journal’s authorship criteria.
Authorship Criteria
To qualify for authorship, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Substantial contributions: Contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the work.
- Drafting and revising: Participation in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Approval and accountability: Approval of the final version and agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Requests for significant changes to the authorship list after the article has been accepted should be accompanied by clear reasons and evidence of author contributions. Without sufficient justification, such requests may be rejected.
Contribution Details
As part of the journal’s updated policy to strengthen research integrity and transparency, all new submissions should now include an author contributions statement describing each author’s role in the work (e.g., study conception and design, data acquisition, analysis, drafting, and critical revision). This information will be used during editorial assessment and, for accepted articles, may be published with the final article as part of the journal record.
Citations
Citations must be relevant, up-to-date, and drawn from documented literature (published or peer-reviewed) to support claims made in the manuscript.
Excessive or inappropriate self-citation, or any arrangement among authors to improperly cite each other, is prohibited. For more details, refer to COPE guidance on citation manipulation.
Conflicts of Interest
As part of the journal’s updated policies for new submissions, all authors are required to disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the conduct, results, or interpretation of their research. Authors must explicitly state whether conflicts of interest exist or declare that no conflicts of interest are present.
Please note that funding information must be provided separately in accordance with the journal’s Funding policy.
Corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions
Occasionally, changes may be necessary to an article after publication. The Editor-in-Chief will assess such cases and take appropriate action in accordance with COPE guidance. Actions may include issuing a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction. Any approved change will be accompanied by a formal post-publication notice to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Consent for Publication
If a manuscript includes identifiable personal information and/or images of individuals, authors must obtain written consent for publication from the individual concerned. For individuals under 18, consent must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian. Authors must retain the signed consent documentation and provide it upon request. Where applicable, consent should cover publication under the journal’s OA license (CC BY-NC 4.0).
Confidentiality
All submitted materials are treated as confidential. JEAS upholds confidentiality throughout all publishing processes in accordance with COPE policies.
Copyright Policy
Authors retain copyright, and the Publisher is granted publishing and distribution rights.
Data Sharing Policy
Research Data Policy
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences advocates for sharing research data to enhance transparency, reproducibility, and the advancement of knowledge, while respecting ethical and legal considerations. The following guidelines apply to research data statements in submitted manuscripts:
Data Sharing Expectations
Authors are encouraged to make data publicly available whenever possible, except where privacy, confidentiality, or legal constraints apply. Data should be shared in a manner that allows verification of results and facilitates reuse for further research.
Data Availability Statements
As part of the journal’s research data policy, authors are strongly encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript. Where applicable, authors should describe where the data supporting the findings can be accessed, or explain any restrictions (e.g., privacy, confidentiality, ethical, or legal constraints).
- Data Available in a Public Repository: The datasets generated during and/or analyzed during the current study are available in the [NAME] repository, [INSERT LINK].
- Data Available on Request: The datasets generated during and/or analyzed during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.
- No Data Available: No datasets were generated or analyzed during the current study.
Desk Rejection Policy
Manuscripts may be rejected without external peer review for the following reasons:
- The topic/scope of the study is not relevant to the journal.
- Publication ethics concerns or non-adherence to international standards.
- Insufficient impact and/or limited new contribution to the field.
- Flaws in the study design.
- The study objective is not clearly stated.
- Problems in study organization and/or missing key components.
- Problems in writing quality, including repeated grammatical or stylistic issues.
- The manuscript does not follow the journal’s submission guidelines.
Ethics Policies
JEAS and its editorial board are fully committed to COPE principles and policies.
Editors’ Responsibilities
- The editorial team is accountable for handling and approving manuscripts submitted to the journal.
- The editorial team is responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of each accepted manuscript.
- Published research must be evaluated for authenticity and scholarly merit.
- The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board must maintain confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
- Conflicts of interest must be avoided, and any potential conflicts must be disclosed.
- Transparency is required in cases of self-publication.
- Reviewers should be guided to identify ethical misconduct and research irregularities.
- Reviewer comments should be forwarded to authors, excluding offensive content.
- Editorial decisions must reflect the journal’s academic standards across all sections.
- Manuscript acceptance or rejection is determined jointly by the editorial board and the Editor-in-Chief.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- Support editorial judgment on manuscript decisions.
- Provide justified comments based on scholarly evaluation.
- Suggest alternative reviewers when necessary.
- Alert the editorial team to potential duplicate publication and plagiarism.
- Handle manuscripts confidentially.
- Maintain neutrality and fairness.
- Notify the editorial team if a paper does not reach publication quality.
- Report ethical violations without delay.
- Not exploit information gained through review.
- Disclose any conflict of interest.
- Communicate any known overlap with existing literature.
Authors’ Responsibilities
- Follow the journal’s writing policy and provide a signed declaration of compliance, where required.
- Ensure submissions are exclusive to the journal until a final decision is reached.
- Ensure research is original and unpublished, unless submitted as an extended version of earlier work.
- The corresponding author must confirm the involvement and approval of all coauthors.
- Communication with the editorial office, and text and proof revisions, are handled by the corresponding author.
Funding
As part of the journal’s updated policies to strengthen transparency in research reporting, all new submissions are required to include a Funding statement.
Authors must disclose all sources of financial or institutional support for the work, including grant numbers where applicable. Authors must also describe the role of the funder(s), if any, in the study design; data collection, analysis, or interpretation; manuscript preparation; and the decision to submit the manuscript for publication.
If the funder(s) had no role in any aspect of the study, authors should explicitly state this, for example:
“The funder(s) had no role in the study design; data collection, analysis, or interpretation; manuscript preparation; or the decision to submit the manuscript for publication.”
If the research received no specific funding, authors must include a statement such as:
“The authors received no specific funding for this work.”
Images and Figures
Use images and figures only when they are relevant and add value to the scholarly work. Please refrain from including purely illustrative content that does not contribute to the work reported.
Authors must obtain the necessary written permission to include third-party copyrighted material, including (but not limited to) proprietary text, illustrations, tables, or other material, including data, screenshots, and supplemental material.
Misconduct
The journal takes all forms of misconduct seriously and will take necessary action, in line with COPE guidance, to protect the integrity of the scholarly record. Examples include:
- Affiliation misrepresentation
- Copyright breaches/third-party material used without permission
- Citation manipulation
- Duplicate submission/publication
- Ethics dumping
- Image or data manipulation/fabrication
- Peer-review manipulation
- Plagiarism
- Text recycling/self-plagiarism
- Undisclosed competing interests
- Unethical research
Types of Misconduct
- Duplicate Submission and Publication: Authors must declare that the submitted manuscript is not under consideration or published elsewhere. Duplicate submission or duplicate publication—including publication of the same or substantially similar work in another journal, or publication of a previously published article in another language (e.g., translation into English)—is considered misconduct and may result in sanctions. If authors have used their own previously published work, or work currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they must clearly cite the prior work and explain how the submitted manuscript provides a novel and substantial contribution beyond the earlier publication.
- Citation Manipulation: Manuscripts found to include citations primarily intended to increase citations to an author’s work, or to articles published in a particular journal, may incur citation manipulation sanctions.
- Data Fabrication and Falsification: Deliberately manipulating or fabricating data is serious misconduct and compromises the integrity of the scholarly record, with far-reaching and long-term consequences. When submitting a manuscript, authors must ensure that all data presented are accurate and faithfully represent their work. Authors are expected to retain all raw data referenced in their manuscripts. If original data cannot be produced upon request, a manuscript may be rejected, or a published article may be retracted. Manuscripts found to include fabricated or falsified results, including image manipulation, may incur data fabrication and falsification sanctions.
- Improper Author Contribution or Attribution: All listed authors must have made a significant scientific contribution to the research and approved all claims. Authorship should include everyone who made a significant scientific contribution.
- Redundant Publications: Redundant publications involve inappropriate division of study outcomes into several articles.
- Image Manipulation: Deliberate manipulation or fabrication of images is serious misconduct intended to mislead others and can have wide-reaching and long-term consequences. The journal expects images to be accurate and free from inappropriate manipulation. Specific features within an image must not be enhanced, obscured, moved, removed, or introduced without clear disclosure of the alteration. Adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance are acceptable only if they do not obscure, eliminate, or misrepresent information in the original. Grouping images from different parts of gels, western blots, or microscope images must be made explicit in the figure arrangement or the figure legend. If original, unedited images cannot be produced upon request, a manuscript may be rejected, or a published article may be retracted.
Handling Allegations of Misconduct
The journal takes all allegations of research misconduct seriously and handles them in a fair and confidential manner. Allegations may be raised before or after publication.
Upon receiving a concern, the editorial office will conduct an initial assessment and, where appropriate, contact the author(s) for explanation and supporting documentation. The journal may consult independent experts, the authors’ institutions, or follow guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Depending on the outcome, actions may include rejection, correction, retraction, or other appropriate measures. The journal’s primary objective is to safeguard the integrity of the scholarly record while ensuring due process for all parties involved.
Open Access Policy
The journal is an OA journal and provides immediate, free access to all published content. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which permits non-commercial use, sharing, and redistribution (e.g., download, read, print, search, copy, and share links), provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source. Any reuse must not misrepresent the original work, and any adaptations or modifications must comply with the terms of the license.
To support open access publishing, the journal applies an article processing charge (APC). Further details are available on the Author Guidelines page.
Peer Review Process
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences operates a double-blind peer-review process. All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess scope, originality, basic quality, and compliance with the journal’s policies. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.
Manuscripts that pass initial screening are typically evaluated by 2 independent external reviewers selected for their expertise. Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality and to declare any potential conflicts of interest prior to accepting a review.
Authors may suggest potential reviewers; however, the decision to invite any suggested reviewer rests solely with the editor. Suggested reviewers should be listed in the cover letter and, where possible, accompanied by institutional email addresses or verifiable identifiers (e.g., an ORCID or Scopus ID). Any attempt to falsify reviewer information (such as false names or email addresses) will result in rejection and may lead to further investigation in accordance with the journal’s misconduct policy.
Supplementary materials submitted with the manuscript may be subject to peer review at the editor’s discretion. Peer-review reports are not published alongside articles. All research articles published in the journal undergo peer review; no article types are exempt unless explicitly stated.
Editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief (or a designated handling editor) based on the reviewers’ reports and the journal’s academic standards. In cases of conflicting reviews, additional reviewers may be consulted.
Plagiarism
The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, including use of others’ ideas, words, or work without proper acknowledgment. Submissions containing plagiarism (in whole or in part), duplicate or redundant publication, or self-plagiarism (in the same or a different language) will be rejected. Posting to a preprint archive is not considered duplicate publication.
All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using iThenticate. Manuscripts with an unacceptable similarity index due to plagiarism will be rejected immediately. The corresponding author is responsible for the manuscript through and after evaluation and publication, with authority to act on behalf of all coauthors.
Post-Publication Discussion
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences welcomes post-publication feedback and provides a channel for readers to contact the Editorial Office with comments, critiques, or concerns regarding published articles. Comments or concerns should be sent to the Editorial Office using the contact email listed on the journal website. The editorial team will review all correspondence and, where warranted, take appropriate action (e.g., publishing a response, issuing a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction) in accordance with COPE guidance.
The journal also acknowledges that post-publication discussions may take place on externally moderated platforms (e.g., PubPeer). Where credible issues are raised, the Editorial Office will assess them and respond as appropriate.
These discussions aim to support transparency, scholarly exchange, and the ongoing improvement of the scholarly record.
Special Issues
Special issues focus on emerging themes, recent developments, or specific areas of interest within the journal’s scope. Special issues may be organized around thematic topics or may include selected contributions associated with academic conferences, workshops, or scholarly events.
All manuscripts submitted for inclusion in a special issue must meet the journal’s standards of originality, scholarly quality, and academic contribution. Prior presentation of a paper at a conference does not preclude consideration for publication, provided the submission complies with the journal’s publication and ethical policies.
The journal operates on an open-access platform and supports responsible and ethical publishing practices.
Appointment of Guest Editors
Guest Editors may be appointed for a special issue based on subject expertise and academic standing. Guest Editors may be nominated by the editorial board or invited by the Editor-in-Chief. The final approval of Guest Editors rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
Guest Editors assist in defining the focus of the special issue and may support the editorial process in coordination with the journal’s editorial team.
Setup of Special Issues
Special issues may be initiated by the editorial board, the Editor-in-Chief, Guest Editors, or in connection with academic events or institutional initiatives. The format, scope, and selection process for each special issue are determined by the editorial team in accordance with the journal’s policies.
The journal retains full discretion regarding the organization, announcement, and management of special issues.
Editorial and Review Process for Special Issues
All manuscripts submitted to special issues — including those associated with conferences or academic events — are handled through the journal’s standard submission system and are subject to the same editorial screening and double-blind peer-review process as regular submissions.
Final publication decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in accordance with the journal’s academic and ethical standards.
Publication Timing
Special issue manuscripts follow timelines established by the editorial team and adhere to the same publication policies and standards as regular issues.
Standards of Reporting
Research should be communicated in a way that supports verification and reproducibility. Authors are encouraged to provide comprehensive descriptions of the research rationale, protocol, methodology, and analysis.
Use of Third-Party Material
Authors must obtain necessary permission to reuse third-party material in their article. This includes (but is not limited to) text, illustrations, photographs, tables, data, audio, video, film stills, screenshots, or musical notation.
Use of short extracts of text and some other materials may be permitted on a limited basis for criticism and review without securing formal permission. If authors wish to include material for which they do not hold copyright, and which is not covered by this limited permission, they must obtain written permission from the copyright owner prior to submission.
Use of Generative AI and AI-assisted Technologies
Use of AI in Writing
Authors must disclose the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in their manuscripts (e.g., to enhance readability). A statement to this effect will be included in the published work.
Use of AI in Peer Review
To protect authors’ rights and research confidentiality, Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences does not allow the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in peer review. The journal will continue evaluating compliant tools and may revise this policy in the future.
