Abstract

This paper explores the conceptual evolution and theoretical complexities of organizational memory (OM), navigating the tension between traditional industrial models and the emerging realism of hybrid frameworks. It addresses the fundamental dialectic within the field: the struggle to define OM as either a repository of static information or a dynamic, socially constructed process. By critically analyzing existing literature, the research highlights the limitations of rigid, machine-like models that often fail to account for the human element and the fluid nature of knowledge in modern organizations. The study emphasizes the necessity of the "Hybrid Model," which integrates both technological storage and human cognition, recognizing that effective memory resides not just in databases, but in the shared experiences, routines, and social interactions of employees. The author argues that this hybrid approach offers a more realistic and functional understanding of how organizations learn, retain, and retrieve information to maintain a competitive advantage. Ultimately, the article seeks to resolve theoretical ambiguities by proposing a more holistic view of OM, one that bridges the gap between digital efficiency and human intuition, providing a comprehensive roadmap for both researchers and practitioners to better manage intellectual capital in an increasingly complex global environment.
