Abstract
The studyaddressesthe problem ofstagnationand declining economic growth ratesin Arab countriessince the eightiestill todayafterthe progress made bythese countries inthe sixties ofthe last century. The study reviewsthe economicgrowth picturein Arab countriessincethe sixtiesto 2007. It also presentsthe views ofsome AppliedStudies in regard to the relationshipbetweeneconomic growth andits factors(represented mainly by physicaland humancapitals)in Arab countries in reference to the reasonswhich responsible forthat relationship. The study addressesthe impact ofeconomic reformprograms undertaken by some ofArab countries on the economic growth rates, thenconductsa statistical analysis onthe growth factorseffect in increasing theeconomic output per workerin both Arab and SouthEastAsiacountries, for the period 1960-2005. The study ends witha set ofconclusions and recommendations on how to overcome the crisisexperienced by theeconomic growth in Arab countries in general.
Abstract (Arabic)
ينطلق البحث من مشكلة ركود وتراجع معدلات النمو الاقتصادي في البلدان العربية منذ الثمانينات وحتى اليوم، بعد التقدم الذي أحرزته هذه البلدان في ستينات القرن الماضي. ويستعرض البحث صورة النمو الاقتصادي في البلدان العربية منذ عقد الستينات ولغاية 2007، كما يستعرض وجهات نظر بعض الدراسات التطبيقية فيما يخص العلاقة ما بين النمو الاقتصادي وعوامله (متمثلة برأس المال المادي والبشري بشكل أساسي) في البلدان العربية، مع الإشارة إلى الأسباب المسؤولة عن تلك العلاقة. ويتطرق البحث إلى تأثير برامج الإصلاح الاقتصادية التي قامت بها عدد من البلدان العربية في معدلات النمو الاقتصادي، ومن ثم يجري البحث تحليلا قياسيا لأثر عوامل النمو الاقتصادي في نمو الناتج في البلدان العربية وبلدان جنوب شرق أسيا للمدة 1960-2005، لينتهي بجملة من الاستنتاجات والتوصيات عن كيفية تجاوز الأزمة التي يمر بها النمو الاقتصادي في المنطقة العربية بشكل عام .
